Interview notes that travel across a team

Raw transcripts are not a shared asset. A light note format keeps insights usable when handoffs happen mid-week.

Colleagues in discussion during a workshop

When only one analyst holds the context from a stakeholder conversation, the team inherits a single point of failure. Notes need to travel.

We recommend a fixed skeleton: purpose of the talk, decisions confirmed, open questions, verbatim quotes that change the map, and follow-ups with owners. Anything else stays optional.

Verbatim quotes earn their place when they contradict an assumption. Decorative quotes do not. Teaching that distinction is part of our Systems Analysis Workshop.

If your team uses a shared workspace, store notes beside the process map they inform. Context dies when notes live in a private folder nobody opens again.
